Renting a car abroad can make a trip — or cost a fortune if you’re not careful. Here’s how to rent cheap, with no surprises and the right coverage.
Airport counter prices are far higher. Booking online weeks ahead (via a comparison site like DiscoverCars) locks a low price with free cancellation.
The excess (deductible) is the big trap. Check whether the deal includes full coverage — sometimes paying a little more buys peace of mind.
Choose a “full-to-full” fuel policy — the cheapest. An extra driver usually costs more, so check in advance.
Many countries require an International Driving Permit alongside your home license. Get it before you fly.
Cyprus, Greece, Italy and Spain are excellent for road trips — manageable distances, easy parking and some of Europe’s lowest prices.
